This family is inspired by tropical environments and wanted vivid colors and bold shapes to surround their Oakland home. A basalt basin in the front holds water for the visiting birds and butterflies and provides a play space for the young child who lives here, a budding geologist. The back contains a small lawn and deck, for family games and barbeques. Bamboo, bananas, palms, and tall flowering shrubs create a jungle of privacy while citrus trees and jasmine fill the air with a heady scent. |
