This storybook-style house on a busy Kensington thoroughfare was remodeled throughout and needed an updated garden to enhance its cozy, cottage-y charm. We wanted to create very bright, traffic-stopping showy plantings that could also stand up to the resident deer. We added welcoming flagstone paths to match the brick and some retaining walls to create different levels for planting, and filled them with cascades of flowers and soft waves of contrasting foliage. The fenced-in, private back garden is where the homeowner and friends can pull chairs around a large fountain at the edge of the lawn or sit in the hottub and smell the roses. |
